Starly won't be so frail when they have evolved. And as I recall, for a first stage pokemon, Starly is pretty good.

I don't really EV train, though. It kinda takes the 'character' out of Pokemon and kinda just turns it into math. :/ At least for me it does.
And, if I did EV train, it's a Nuzlocke, and if a particular Pokemon dies after I've spent hours EV training it, it feels less of an actual loss and more of a waste of time. And that kinda ruins the point of a Nuzlocke, y'know?

Obtained HM06 from a Hiker in Oreburgh Gate. Hermes, you just became

I'll impose some sort of penalty for doing this later.
Though the only things that really happened were Horus gained some levels and learned Wing attack, getting HM06 and catching a Zubat that nothing happened with, so IDK if that's enough to warrant a penalty for resetting. It probably isn't, actually......

The Zubat was named Asteria after the Greek goddess of nocturnal oracles and falling stars.

But since I did a quick reset to undo me teaching Yggdrasil Rock Smash, though, she kinda doesn't exist in the Nuzlocke. :/

if/when i find another one in the gate and it's female i'll name it exactly the same thing, though.

Zubat are NOT reliable, nor Golbat, and hardly Crobat. And Zubat and it's evolutions are good for strategic, suicide strategies. They are not meant to take a good hit or be lasting, they are offencive, but not in the head on way. This is a pokemon you have if it can afford to faint.

Dude, Draco, my Crobat in SoulSilver was pretty decently reliable (at least by my standards), what are you talking about?

True, it died in the E4 but that was because the Hitmontop(?) used Revenge, but it would've probably survived if the thing didn't use Revenge.

They /can/ be used for more than 'suicide' strategies, dude. They can be speedy physical sweepers. They just need a good amount of support, either from teammates or their moveset.
Like, maybe Substitute + Roost + whatever attacking moves would be a good idea, IDK.

I said Crobat were decently reliable, but the pre, not so much. But Crobat are still not reliable in comparison to the majoraty. And I am already aware of the other strategies. I use Crobat sometimes for my Triple Battle Wi-Fi, but we are talking nuzlocke here.

It kinda sounded like you were saying the entire Zubat/Golbat/Crobat line was terrible, the way it was worded, but that's just me.

And good point, we /ARE/ talking about a Nuzlocke and not competetive play.

So the Roost/Substitute thing would probably only work if it survives to be a Gol/Crobat in the first place, then.

Also, double battles aren't as common in Platinum as they are in Pokemon Colliseum and Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness.

Unless Your Torterra goes kaput, you won't be needing to catch budew. Also, you know what kind of level grinder I am. When the professor leaves you with the pokemon, and you need to travel to Sandgem for the first. I eveolved my pokemon before entering Sandgem.

Oh I've done a Nuzlocke! Or, still doing. I haven't picked it up in a while but I won't do it on a game I'll feel uncomfortable restarting over so I'm doing it on my old Crystal game.

I might not /need/ to catch a Budew, but if it's my first encounter on that route then I probably will, just in case Yggdrasil DOES go kaput so I'll have another Grass type.

Also, since you mentioned Gen2, I have a Japanese copy of Gold for some random reason.
