Alright, I'm posting this thread to talk about a good reason why Flipnote Hatena was cancelled, why Flipnote 3D should be delayed, and some of my thoughts on the Flipnote Community.
This is also a thread to where everyone can discuss about the flipnote community and thoughts about Flipnote 3D or anything Flipnote related.
Now, a lot of people are starting to think they should 'rebel' against Flipnote because they cancelled Flipnote Hatena and are delaying Flipnote 3D.
An important thing to remember is that working on certain programs like these can take up a whole lot of time, and since it was already released in Japan, they have to translate all of it into English. It takes up a lot more time than you think.
Even so, the reason WHY they cancelled Flipnote Hatena in the first place was because of economic reasons. They have to pay a whole lot of money to keep the servers running for Flipnote Hatena, and it's going to chew up a whole lot more cash if they were to use the Flipnote 3D servers and Flipnote Hatena servers at the same time, so they had to abandon Flipnote Hatena. I imagine they didn't want to do it, but many of the people who work for Hatena were proud of the project, and they are hoping to make Flipnote 3D with better adjustments.
Anyways back to Flipnote 3D. If they were to release it early, it would probably be not good, and its a better idea to work on the project a bit longer so they can try to perfect it so people can enjoy as much as possible.
Now on to the community.
I can honestly say that the majority of the people on Hatena are from Deviantart, or are familiar with the Sonic, Invader Zim, and anime fanbases. There were many categories of the people on Flipnote Hatena, but a very popular one were music videos.
Now, personally I can enjoy a music video as long as it has some variety, and you could see some creativity, effort, or thought put into it.
One of my favorite flipnotes of this kind are probably Oz's. Oz made a bunch of animations with music such as Daft Punk's "Harder Better Faster Stronger"
But what made these really unique was how he transitioned with the animation. For example, transitioning a guy falling down in the sky into another object.
Here's one of his flipnotes.
I personally like these flipnotes the most.
But these kind of flipnotes take a LOT of practice. Practicing animation helps you a whole bunch, and it's always good to practice character movements and such to get better at making flipnotes.
It also takes a lot of practice to animate smoothly at a higher framerate. Oz was animating at the 7 speed mark, which is about 24 frames per second (just to estimate though).
This is different kind of music video that uses a different style of presenting the music. Rather than making objects transition, this is a simple music video to express a different feeling than Oz's as shown above.
These are cool sometimes, but a large amount of the music videos on Hatena consists of romance, pop songs, and dark music. They are okay every now and then, but there are so many people that make continuously make these and basically do the same thing each one. Same stuff, just a different song. It gets on my nerves on how many people do this. And so many of them don't really try to test their animation, but instead just put a picture and make their mouths move.
Here's another popular kind of flipnote. These are stick fights.
These type of animations are fairly popular, and a large amount of people on Hatena are very fond with them. However, stick fights can have some flaws too. There are many stick fighters who rely on "flash effects" to give the effect of a powerful attack. These abused often though, and when people tend to use the flash effect a lot, it makes your eyes hurt. Trust me, I used to do that and looking back at my old flipnotes, they made my eyes red. People who make music videos sometimes do the same thing.
When making a stick fight, it's definitely helpful to practice. Practicing animation with stick fights can help you improve the way your stick fight is presented. Another good idea is to try to make a stick fight without special effects to see how well you can animate without them. This goes for making ANY kind of flipnote. Practice makes perfect.
Now for the typical flipnote issues that people have.
A lot of these people complain that people constantly steal their flipnotes. Most of these people are new at flipnote, and merely just post just show a funny animation someone else made. But so many people get pissed off over it and grow a fit.
Hell, I used to do the same thing when started using Flipnote. The only thing that really bugs me are people who copy and paste your flipnote, put the same audio on it and say they made it. This already happened to a stick fighter name "N1nty" and he was pretty pissed about it when he found out that it was getting popular. Another person did that to my slenderman flipnote. It's not fun. So they are probably going to add something that removes flipnotes that exactly like other ones where the person who used it was saying he created it.
Also, another thing that bugs me is people who get upset over people who ask for stars. Are they really that big of a deal? So WHAT if people ask for stars? A bunch of people get popular over asking for stars. Some are lazy attempts while others are humorous. But I'm perfectly fine with star begging. Even if it looks really stupid, I'm fine with it. But it's not the star beggar's fault. If you get so mad at people who add stars to star beggars, blame the people who added the stars! Either way, it doesn't really matter. They are either going to put stars or remove them on Flipnote 3D, but either way, I really don't want to see so many people moan and complain about that "star begging" situation again.
Oh and another thing that most people don't like are "false reporters". Yeah, these guys are really annoying and stupid. Hopefully they are going to fix that in Flipnote 3D.
Now I made my point about some stuff about flipnote, and I want to hear YOUR opinion about Flipnotes.
Also, if anyone would like to debate, please do so in a friendly manner.
