In case any of you don't know what the series "Super Smash Bros." is, it is a series of fighting games developed by HAL Laboratory, Sora, and Namco Bandai being published by Nintendo, featuring Nintendo characters. The gameplay is quite different from other fighting games, as it doesn't use health bars. Instead, it uses a percent system that increases as you sustain damage. A larger percent means more knockback you receive when hit, and you are KO'ed when you go past the borders of the screen. However, I assume most people have played or have seen this game.
There have been Super Smash Bros. games on the Nintendo 64 (Super Smash Bros. 64), Nintendo GameCube (Super Smash Bros. Melee), Nintendo Wii (Super Smash Bros. Brawl), with another game planned to come out on Nintendo WiiU & 3DS called "Super Smash Bros. 4" for now.
Gameplay between each of the games is quite different. For a very brief overview between each of the games, here is the snippet from www.reddit.com/r/smashbros/wiki/gamedifferences:

- Smash 64 places emphasis on first hits and combo execution. It is more closely related to traditional fighters in this sense.
- Melee is about fast, precise movement that creates openings and leads to short improvisational combos.
- Brawl is a game about patient spacing and a methodic dismantling of your opponents with a very minimal combo game.
You can read more on the page for an extremely detailed analysis comparing each of the games.
Project M is a Brawl hack that changes physics back to Melee style, as the fast-paced, combo-packed gameplay is generally more favourable by competitive fans than the large amounts of mindgames and spacing in Brawl. There are added characters, changed characters, new moves, new stages, different costumes, altered physics, another mode called "Turbo Mode" which is absolutely amazing, and more stuff.
So basically, this is a thread to talk about the series. Talk about your favourite characters, items, stages, modes, Adventure Mode, The Subspace Emissary, music, your hopes and updates on the upcoming game, videos, competitive matches, glitches, and more here!
